Our programs & classes are top-notch.

reCREATIONal Classes

Our reCREATIONal Program provides children between the ages of 2 and 17 with  weekly skill training classes in Musical Theatre, Acting, Film, & Dance.

There are no auditions and the reCREATIONal Program is OPEN to students that have no experience, as well as the student that has experience and wishes to continue to develop their theatre skills.

All classes culminate in a Final In-Studio presentation that parents and friends are invited to view.

All classes are offered from September to the end of May each year and the schedule adheres to the school year (holiday schedule).

Students may register for a class or classes of their choice up until the end of January each year as long as space still exists within a given class.

Performance Company

Each year The Yellow Door Theatre Project selects via auditions a minimum of 48 young SINGERS, ACTORS and DANCERS between the ages of 10-18 to become participants in our Performance Company.

This program includes weekend rehearsals throughout the school year and students participate in fall & spring performances. In the fall our senior company has their first performance at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre, while our Junior company has their first performance in-studio. In the spring the senior and junior companies combine for a full company performance (venue TBD).

The Performance Company partners our young performers with industry professionals, both onstage and off. They get hands-on experience working as young performers in a professional environment.

Rehearsals are typically scheduled on weekends at our rehearsal facility located at 504 Line 2 Rd in Virgil.

The Goettler Family Film Academy

Our Film Academy is possible due to the generosity of the Goettler Family.

This Academy runs parallel to our Theatre Stream (Stage) by educating students ages 13-17 in live film with curriculum and specialized workshops by film industry professionals.

From scriptwriting and directing to filming and editing will allow them to participate in life through a medium that has kept them engaged in the world they are a part of. It is in fact, a part of their daily life, and they understand that there is value and power in learning to use it.

This new Yellow Door Theatre Project film stream is the first of its kind in the Niagara Region!

The new Goettler Family Foundation Film Academy will meet the demands of digital age communication and allow expanded reach through public viewings in:
  • A professional movie theatre setting
  • Further showings in high schools & community centres
  • Various film festivals

The Goettler Family Foundation Film Academy will:
  • Encourage creativity
  • Build confidence
  • Foster cultural awareness
  • Develop new skills
  • Nurture a sense of accomplishment
  • Make a significant impact on the teen population in the Niagara Region by giving a voice to their thoughts and feelings through creative expression in film
The initial implementation of the Goettler Family Foundation Film Academy will be a 25 week program over two terms; September-December (10 weeks) and January-May (15 weeks).
